Festivities started early with our Annual Pyjama Day to celebrate the Late Late Toy Show organised by the Parents Association.
Christmas 2022 kicked off in style in Knockraha with the decoration of the school windows. The very talented Ms K Walsh drew all the festive designs and she had some very busy elves to help with the painting.

6 th Class Centre Pieces
It was like a jungle in Ms Clynch’s 5th and 6th class on Thursday the 15th of December, as
we were making center pieces for our families. A few weeks before Ms Clynch asked us to
bring in some plastic cartons. We were all a bit puzzled on why we had to bring them in.
After what felt like weeks everyone had finally brought in there cartons. Ms Clynch then told
us what we needed the cartons for. She showed us all the materials that we would need to
make these center pieces which included green oasis foam (which we later used to keep the
plants alive). We also needed as much festive greenery as we could get. After everyone had
brought in their greenery, we got to work on creating the centre pieces. Firstly, Ms Clynch
gave out the green oasis foam then we soaked the foam. Then we placed our foam into the
cartons. Then Ms Clynch gave out a candle and a metal candle cup. Then we had to place
the candle very carefully into the foam. The classroom was destroyed at this point the centre
pieces where coming along. Lots of people where finished their centre pieces, most people
decided to spray paint some of their leaves gold or silver. We added flowers, pinecones and
decorations to the centre pieces. We brought them home and placed them on the dinner
table to light on Christmas Day.

There was great excitement for our Christmas Charachter Day which coincided with Cake Sale Friday, Yummy festive treats were supplied by Rang a Trí/Rang a Ceathair.
The costumes were amazing by all the pupils and it was a very hard decision but our judges chose some worthy winners from each class who all dressed up as their favourite Christmas Charachter..
Rang a Cuig/Sé wrote some very special Christmas stories for their buddies in Junior and Senior Infants. The younger children loved hearing the amazing stories written and illustrated just for them.
We had a very special visitor to out school. He travelled in Knockraha style on a very shiny tractor and brought some treats for everyone in the school.
The highlight of our Christmas celebrations was the beautiful Carol Concert in St Mary's Church. The lovely singing was complemented by some amazing musicians.
All that is left to do now is wish all the pupils and families of Scoil Mhuire a very Merry Christmas and we will see you in the New Year.
